Opt-In/Opt-Out for Courtesy Pay for Debit Card POS Transactions
To indicate your preference for Courtesy Pay or for information about other alternatives we offer for covering overdrafts, please contact us:
How does Courtesy Pay work?
Courtesy Pay is a service offered that allows us to cover transactions even if your account does not have sufficient funds, effectively preventing overdrafts. Eglin FCU may, at our discretion, overdraw your Checking Account up to a limit of $528, including the amount of the overdrawn item(s) and the Courtesy Pay fee(s). A $28 fee will be assessed for each transaction that takes your account negative. There is no daily limit on the number of fees. You have up to 30 days to bring the account current either through a direct deposit, transfer of funds, or a deposit at one of our branch offices. Courtesy Pay for one-time debit card point of sale transactions is optional and requires you to opt-in for coverage.
How does Courtesy Pay work if I am signed up for Overdraft Protection?
Courtesy Pay fees won't be charged if you are signed up for Overdraft Protection and have available funds (or limit in the case of loan accounts) in the account(s) you have authorized. We will transfer funds from the account(s) in the order you have designated so the available funds balance will sufficiently cover the amount of an overdraft. There is no fee for Overdraft Protection Authorization transfers. Overdraft Protection is available from your savings, money market, available line of credit loan, or Mastercard®.
How does Courtesy Pay work if I am signed up for Overdraft Protection? If you have available funds and have signed up for Overdraft Protection, we will pay an overdraft with a no-fee automatic transfer from your savings, money market, available line of credit loan, or Mastercard® first before utilizing Courtesy Pay and charging a $28 fee.
How do I opt in or revoke my opt-in authorization for Courtesy Pay for Debit Card POS Transactions?
You may use any of the options listed below to declare your Courtesy Pay opt-in preferences:
How do I avoid NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) fees and Courtesy Pay fees?
The most effective method to avoid paying overdraft fees on your Checking Account is to keep sufficient funds in your account. Reconcile the balance in your account using your periodic statements each month and practice good account management. This will help you avoid making withdrawals without sufficient funds and incurring the resulting fees. Additionally, if you have online account access, you can set up an 'Available Balance Below' alert. This alert will notify you via your preferred method (text, push notification or email) when your available balance falls below any dollar threshold you specify.
If you're attempting to withdraw funds and are being denied, even though you have verified that your available balance is sufficient, it is possible you have exceeded your daily spending or withdrawal limit. Please contact us during business hours by calling 850.862.0111, Option 4 or visit a local branch for more information specific to your account.
