Salary Advance For Emergency (SAFE) Loan Rates & Terms

Our Salary Advance For Emergency (SAFE) loan has an annual percentage Rate (APR) of 16.9% for a maximum loan amount of $500 and a repayment period of 120 days. Rates given are current as of Tuesday, October 14, 2025 and are subject to change.

  1. Your Eglin FCU account must be in good standing and have been opened for at least 30 days.
  2. You must be with your current employer for at least two months.
  3. Your payroll must be direct deposited to your Eglin FCU account.
  4. The loan amount is limited to ½ of your monthly pay or $500, whichever is less.
  5. Payments can be made automatically by transfer.
  6. You can only have one SAFE Loan at a time. Your SAFE Loan must be paid off before applying for another loan.
  7. Members are required to complete the free BalanceTrack Money Management online course with a score of 80% or higher prior to receiving their second SAFE Loan of each calendar year. Click here for enrollment instructions.
  8. Only four SAFE Loans are allowed during one calendar year.
  9. Minimum payment is $25 weekly or $50 bi-weekly/semi-monthly or $100 monthly.
  10. Payments are due on each payday.

*APR = Annual Percentage Rate.

Sample Repayment: A $500 loan for 120 days at 16.9% would result in the following approximate payments: $129.34 Monthly, $73.40 Biweekly, or $30.27 Weekly.

This unsecured loan may be available for members who either do not want or do not qualify for a line of credit.
Line of Credit Signature Loan
A Line of Credit Signature loan is an open-end, revolving account with a credit limit established when the loan is opened.

Guarantor Loan
A member who has difficulty getting approved on their own may consider having a qualified guarantor apply with them.

Our Savings Assistance Loan (SAL) enables individuals to receive up to $2,000 with low monthly payments and a low interest rate.

Share Secured Loans are a good way to build credit or make any necessary purchases without spending your savings.

How do I make a payment to my loan?
You have several convenient options for making loan payments. Make a loan payment by transferring funds from your Eglin FCU Checking or Savings account through our Online Banking service or Mobile App. You can also use the External Transfers feature within Online Banking or the Mobile App to make a payment to your loan from your checking or savings account at another financial institution. If you prefer, you can request to make a loan payment at one of our Video Teller machines during business hours, or you can visit any of our local branches to make a loan payment in person. If none of these options suit you, sending your loan payment with a check via mail is always an option. What is a loan deferral and do you offer this service?
A loan deferral is a pre-approved, temporary break from making payments on a debt you owe, including personal loans. For loan deferral questions please contact us by calling 850.862.0111, Option 2 or visit a branch during business hours.

Do you offer student loans?
We do not offer student loans at this time. If you have any other financial needs or questions, we're here to help!

Can I use a personal loan to pay for tuition, books, and other educational expenses?
No, the personal signature loan is a closed-end loan that may not be used for a student's educational purposes. Student loans have specific benefits and protections designed for educational expenses, which require specific notice and disclosure. The Credit Union policy does not offer closed-end loan options specifically designed for student loan purposes. However, we do offer open-end lines of credit and credit cards that may be used for educational purposes.

What is an unsecured loan?
An unsecured loan is a type of loan that doesn't require any collateral. Unlike secured loans (which rely on assets like property or vehicles), unsecured loans are approved based on the borrower's creditworthiness. Examples of unsecured loans include personal loans and credit cards. These loans typically come with higher interest rates because they pose more risk to lenders.

Do you offer business loans?
We do not currently offer any loans for businesses.

How can I view my loan history?
Members with access to Online Banking or Mobile App may view their accounts to include loan details and history. Once logged in, you can access your loan details and history. We are able to assist members without online account access by phone, through secured email or text, or in a branch location.
