Who can own bonds?

You can own U.S. Savings Bonds if you have a Social Security Number and you are a:
  • Resident of the United States
  • Citizen of the United States living abroad
  • Civilian employee of the United States regardless of residence
  • Minor. Unlike other securities, minors may own U.S. Savings Bonds

Electronic Purchase

You can purchase, manage, and redeem electronic bonds safely from your home computer through a personal TreasuryDirect account.

Savings Bond Redemption

In most cases, you can redeem your E, EE, and I Bonds or Savings Notes at any Eglin Federal Credit Union branch teller window. Some restrictions apply. The person presenting the bond must:
  • Be the owner or co-owner of the bond
  • Have a valid Social Security Number
  • Present a valid Photo ID
  • Have a current address
